Notes

What I actually think about, written down while I still remember why.

Method, not opinion. Lifecycle, retention, and the arithmetic underneath owned-channel revenue.

Roughly every other week, when there is something worth the page. Last one: .

Every note says what it is built on before it makes an argument. The rule above each stamp is the grade.

  1. Flow exports · 2 accounts

Revenue per recipient is the only flow metric that survives contact with a real account

Total revenue tells you how big the list is. Revenue per recipient tells you what the program is doing. Here is the column I read first, why the flows built to produce the second order sit at the bottom of it, and how to derive it from an export you already have.

The stamp on each note above names the best evidence it stands on, in the same notation the rest of this site uses for its numbers. Three weights, one axis — how close the note is to the thing itself. Two-pixel gold: I hold the source data. One pixel solid: arithmetic on top of a source, with the arithmetic shown. One pixel dashed: someone else’s published work, linked, with its denominator named. If a note only stands on other people’s numbers, you can see that before you spend five minutes on it.

Nothing on this page or inside any note is gated, and there is no form on either. The one place on this site that asks for an email address is the retention diagnostic, which is a separate page you reach on purpose.
